UNLV 35, San Jose State 31--Bob Stockham hit Demond Thompkins for on a five-yard touchdown pass with 47 seconds left to lift the Rebels (4-4, 2-2) over the Spartans at Las Vegas.
Nathan DuPree set a school rushing record by gaining 286 yards in 43 carries for San Jose State (5-3, 2-1). The record of 253 yards was set by Sheldon Canley two years ago against the Rebels.
Weber State 23, Nevada 21--Dwight Richards rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown as the Wildcats (5-4) ended the Wolf Pack’s 21-game home winning streak at Reno.
Fred Gatlin of Nevada (5-3) threw a 15-yard scoring pass to Chris Singleton with 3:05 left, but the Wildcats stopped a two-point conversion attempt.
