Dale Ellis sank a three-pointer as the overtime buzzer sounded, giving the San Antonio Spurs a 119-116 victory over the Clippers Saturday night.

With five seconds left, Lloyd Daniels inbounded to Ellis, whose 25-foot shot from the top of the three-point circle went through.

Ellis, who finished with 17 points, spoiled the return of Clipper Coach Larry Brown to San Antonio. It was Brown’s first game at HemisFair Arena since his firing by the Spurs Jan. 21.

“I think the Spurs are great,” Brown said. “(Coach Jerry Tarkanian) is ahead of where I (am) at this time. Our guys wanted to win. They played hard.”

Danny Manning, who led the Clippers with 34 points, lost the ball in traffic under the basket to set up the winning shot by Ellis.

Sean Elliott led San Antonio with 28 points and eight assists. Center David Robinson added 23 points, 13 rebounds and five blocked shots. Antoine Carr had 20 points and nine rebounds for the Spurs, who improved their exhibition record to 5-2 with their fourth consecutive victory.

Ken Norman had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Clippers, who fell to 3-3.
