VALLEY COLLEGE : Upgrading of Office Under Way

Share

Construction began this week to rewire and upgrade the Valley College office of instruction, said Tyree Wieder, vice president of academic affairs.

Wieder said the office was built in the World War II era and wasn’t designed to support today’s computer operations. At one point, a fuse overloaded when a coffee maker and a computer were simultaneously turned on.

“Basically, what you have is a big room with a lot of wiring lying around,” Dave Ogne, head of plant facilities, said. “It’s not a good situation.”

On-campus workers are expected to complete the construction project in three to four weeks, he said. Wieder said the remodeling also will provide greater privacy for administrators.

“People can just walk in when you’re in the middle of a meeting,” she said. “This will give more privacy to deans’ meetings with the students, faculty and the department chairs.”
