Thousand Oaks Man Arrested on Charge of Possessing Slot Machines
A 33-year-old Thousand Oaks man was arrested for possession of two slot machines after Ventura County sheriff’s deputies discovered the machines while responding to a complaint about a loud party at the man’s home, authorities said.
Russell Nixon was arrested at his home in the 2900 block of Calle Esteda about 11 p.m. Saturday, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Four deputies responding to a complaint about a loud party saw the machines from outside Nixon’s home.
“People were putting money in and gambling,” the Sheriff’s Department said.
Sgt. Terry Hughes said it is a misdemeanor to own slot machines in California, unless they are antiques or are not used for gambling.
Nixon’s slot machines were confiscated.
