The Olympic gold medal hero of the Eastside, Oscar De La Hoya, will make his pro boxing debut Nov. 23 at the Forum. He bought a $500,000, 3,100-square-foot home in Montebello for his father, brother, sister and himself. The purchase fulfilled a dream of De La Hoya’s mother, who died of cancer in 1990, for the family to own a home.
