Buena Park (3-6) Clinches Playoff Spot With Shutout

Quarterback Alan Buckley, who passed for 158 yards and two touchdowns, led Buena Park to a 26-0 victory over Fullerton in a Freeway League game Friday night.

With the victory, Buena Park (3-6, 3-1) clinched a playoff spot. The Coyotes had 289 yards in total offense and 18 first downs and held Fullerton to 177 yards.

Buena Park drove 89 yards in 10 plays on its first possession. The drive was capped by a five-yard touchdown run by George McDonald with 4 minutes 42 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Buena Park scored a safety with 2:26 left in first period when linebacker Alex Gollette led several of his teammates in tackling Fullerton receiver David Knight in the end zone.

The Coyotes widened their lead on the final play of the first half when Buckley connected with Chris Stone for a 20-yard touchdown pass.

Stone, who had six receptions for 83 yards, also played a pivotal role on defense. He had 10 tackles and blocked a punt. Stone’s block led to Buckley’s second scoring pass, a nine-yard completion to Jamal Allen in the third quarter.

Kicker Estaban Chavez added a 27-yard field goal.

Keith Ginter, rotating between quarterback and running back, led Fullerton (1-8, 0-4) with 77 yards rushing. The Indians lost five fumbles.
