LOS ANGELES : Former Holden Aide Repays $2,967 to City

Share

A former aide to City Councilman Nate Holden has repaid the city treasury nearly $3,000 she improperly received in sick pay after leaving city employment in 1991, the councilman’s office announced Friday.

The repayment was in response to a story in the The Times, which reported that Ruth Cordova was paid for sick time and holidays for nearly four months after she left City Hall to become a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy.

Cordova wrote a $2,967 check to the city Friday for the overpayment, Holden’s office said.

It was unclear Friday whether Cordova would be required to repay nearly $900 more that she received as holiday pay after leaving City Hall. Officials in the city’s personnel and controller’s offices said that pay was also improper.
