CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : TULARE : Kindergartner Chokes to Death

A team of psychologists was called in to counsel classmates of a kindergarten student who choked to death on a hot dog in the school cafeteria. Five-year-old Tiffany Marie Onsurez died at a hospital despite attempts by a teacher’s aide and a fire captain to perform the Heimlich maneuver. A teacher also tried cardiopulmonary resuscitation after the Wilson School student choked during lunch. Fire Capt. Randy Phillips said: “It’s just one of those tragic cases. This has got to be the saddest thing I’ve ever been on.”
