BURBANK : Decision on Airport Parking Put Off

Share

The Burbank Airport Authority delayed a decision Monday on whether to renew a contract with a Culver City firm that has operated a valet parking service at the airport for about two years.

Valet Parking Service Inc. was recommended by airport authority staff over six other firms vying for the one-year contract, which included two one-year extensions. The staff ranked the firms on experience, cost of providing services, staffing levels and references.

Under the contract, Valet Parking Service would keep $3.75 for every customer who pays $15 a day for valet parking. Currently, Valet Parking Service charges the airport $5 per customer. The new contract is expected to generate more than $200,000 a year for the airport, officials said.

The decision to award the contract was delayed when a representative of one of the competing firms objected to not being informed about the date the airport authority would make its decision. The matter was rescheduled for Dec. 7.
