MISSION VIEJO : 2 Hurt When Pickup Slams Into Tree
A 19-year-old Mission Viejo woman and her 21-year-old passenger were injured early Sunday when the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel of a pickup truck and slammed into a tree off Los Alisos Boulevard, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
The driver, Laurie J. Langton, was treated at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills for shock and injuries to her knee and face after the 1:33 a.m. accident, authorities said. Her passenger, Jeff Scott Jackson of Mission Viejo, was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center here for numerous cuts to his face. Neither injury was life-threatening, Sheriff’s Lt. Dick Olson said.
Langton was driving east on Los Alisos near Via Pimiento when she veered into a tree after apparently falling asleep, Olson said. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
