The five members of the City Council tonight will select a new mayor and mayor pro tem who will serve in those posts for one year.

During the selection process for the next mayor, Ronald Bates, the current mayor, will temporarily turn control of the meeting over to Robert C. Dunek, the city manager and city clerk.

The new mayor will then preside over the selection of the mayor pro tem.

Bates and Councilman Charles E. Sylvia won the two open seats on the council in the election earlier this month.
