1991-92: 13-4-3, 7-1-2 in league; after finishing second in the Empire League, lost in the wild-card round of the 4-A playoffs to Dana Hills.
Key returners: Brooke Davis, Sr., forward; Brandie Hayungs, Sr., halfback; Jessica Kinnahan, Sr., sweeper; Shelby Olmstead, Jr., fullback; Heather Thomas, So., goalkeeper; Elizabeth Willemse, So., forward.
Key newcomer: Ali Ponce, Fr., forward.
Outlook: Morin, who started the program at Los Alamitos in 1981, then took several years off, is bullish about his team in the second season since his return. “I would be disappointed if we didn’t win league, and in the playoffs, who knows?” Morin said. Morin says he has ironed out a few discipline problems that hurt last year. “Now they believe in the system, and they’re starting to operate smoothly,” he said. The Griffins are deep at every position except goalkeeper, where Thomas will replace graduating goalkeeper Kathy Skoglund.
