Anderson, who was named the league’s coach of the year after taking the Cavaliers to a third-place finish last season, says he’s got a team that has come together well and that should be competitive. “Our strengths this year, more than ever, will be our speed and ability to move the ball,” Anderson said. “The outstanding ballhandling by Pablo Martinez, Yang Ung and Raymond Tecson will be a huge asset.” The Cavaliers return only one starter, Pelayo, who averaged 6.3 points last season. They also have a serious lack of height, which Anderson says will force the team to select its shots carefully. “We’ll be real patient and take the best percentage shot,” he said. “We’ll have to take care of the ball.” Anderson likes the unity displayed by the Cavaliers. “This year’s team is by far the most unselfish team I’ve coached,” Anderson said. “These guys are a real close-knit group and will not fold in tight games.”
