Readers Join the Battle of Schott vs. Baseball
Though the accusations against her suspiciously multiply, the bigoted remarks attributed to Marge Schott, if true, are genuinely deplorable. They fully justify the growing chorus of condemnation from fellow owners and baseball executives, from sportswriters, activist reverends, and fans across the land.
In truth, Schott’s behavior is so reprehensible that we will surely--on the next available saint’s day--observe a minute of silence while each of her accusers who has never himself uttered a racial epithet, in jest or otherwise, continues the braying unabated.
