And About the ‘Irish’ of Notre Dame . . .

Share

I love the Irish, a hard-drinking, hard-fighting, sentimental people who have produced some of my all-time favorite authors, playwrights, actors and athletes.

However, I am fed up to the point of nausea of hearing sports commentators continually referring to Notre Dame as the Fighting Irish despite the fact that the preponderance of their best athletes are black Americans.

Wouldn’t it be fitting if Notre Dame, as a tribute to their black athletes, were to paint the Golden Dome black? Or if that isn’t feasible, perhaps they could prevail on the Irish Republic to paint the Blarney Stone black.
