The University of Pittsburgh scheduled a news conference for this morning amid disclosures that a deal was near to bring Johnny Majors back as Pitt’s football coach.
Majors and Athletic Director Oval Jaynes reportedly were negotiating money and other details of a four-year contract on Thursday.
Majors, 57, who coached Pitt to three bowl-game appearances and a national championship from 1973-76, recently was forced out after 16 years at Tennessee.
