Many Benefits to Disney Resort

Share

The Disneyland Resort draft environmental impact report will be open for public comment until Dec. 28 before going to the Anaheim Planning Commission for certification. The Anaheim Chamber of Commerce strongly supports the project.

This is the most important consideration now before the people and businesses of Orange County.

The legally required EIR addresses the effects expansion might have on the community. It concludes that aesthetics would be considerably better, that transportation impact would be insignificant with surface street and freeway improvements and that there would be no deterioration in air quality and no increase in noise level.

This huge, $3-billion project can be gently dropped into the community with tremendous benefits and virtually no disadvantages.

The benefits include 27,900 new, permanent jobs, many of them entry-level and suitable for young people, and nearly $60 million in new city and county taxes collected from resort visitors plus an additional $90 million for the rest of California.

New economic activity for Southern California would amount to $2.4 billion each year. Every person in this area would benefit from such an incredible increase in cash flow.

Southern California needs the Disneyland Resort. Disney needs our support.
