Businessman Is Honored by City
Ventura Mayor Gregory L. Carson has honored a local businessman for not paying the city about $1,800 in fees.
About two weeks ago, city officials decided to waive permit fees for businesses that want to expand or move into empty buildings in an effort to stimulate the city’s struggling economy.
J. N. Warwar, a family physician who is planning to add a second story to his office on North Brent Street, was the first to benefit from the program.
“I was really very pleasantly surprised,” said Warwar, who didn’t know about the fee-waiver program.
