Man Is Killed in Drug Deal, Police Say

Los Angeles police searched Sunday for three men who kicked in the front door of a Canoga Park house and who then fatally shot a resident in what authorities described as a drug deal gone awry.

Teodoro Felix Lamas, 35, died at a Woodland Hills hospital shortly after he was shot in the chest at about 12:50 a.m. Sunday at his house in the 20900 block of Gault Street, Sgt. Brian Powell said. No one had been arrested Sunday.

According to Powell, three men burst into the house, began beating Lamas and demanded money. One of the attackers then pulled out a gun and shot Lamas before all three fled with the dead man’s stereo, Powell said.

Powell said investigators believe that the attack was related to a drug deal, adding that Lamas, an unemployed laborer, may have been affiliated with a local gang. Neighbors said police were routinely called to Lamas’ house and that visitors in expensive cars came and went at all hours.
