HOLIDAY ROADS: California Highway Patrol officials say that the Orange County traffic death toll during the Thanksgiving holiday--21--was the lowest in years. Now they hope for more record lows for Christmas and New Year’s. . . . To help, says CHP spokesman Steve Kohler, motorists can count on plenty of sobriety checkpoints throughout the county for those holidays. But drivers can help too, he suggests: Don’t drink and drive.
