PORT HUENEME : Judge to Rule on Teen Suspect’s Status
Ventura County Superior Court Judge Robert C. Bradley will conduct a hearing Jan. 13 to determine whether a 16-year-old boy should be tried as an adult in the Port Hueneme shooting death of a landlord.
Bradley on Wednesday set the hearing for the Oxnard youth, who is being held without bond in Juvenile Hall. The youth, whose name is being withheld because of his age, will be arraigned in January.
The youth has been charged with murder in the Dec. 1 shooting of Richard Schell, 55. He also is charged with a “special circumstance” allegation that the slaying was committed during a robbery.
