CALABASAS : Soka University Mounts Defense of Park Takeover
Soka University has launched a two-pronged attack, in the courts and the governor’s office, against an attempt by park authorities to seize 244 acres of its Calabasas campus through condemnation proceedings.
The school, which owns nearly 600 acres in the Santa Monica Mountains, filed a lawsuit Wednesday challenging a vote Nov. 17 by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors approving the condemnation request.
In addition, one of Soka’s consultants sent a five-page letter to Gov. Pete Wilson, asking him to intervene.
