Ventura County Supervisor Maria VanderKolk has nominated Barbara Bronson Gray to serve on the Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council.

Gray’s nomination is expected to be approved by the Board of Supervisors at its meeting on Tuesday.

Gray, who could not be reached for comment, would fill a position left vacant by Duane Skavdahl, who resigned in October to move to Iowa.

Gray would serve the remainder of Skavdahl’s term, which expires next November.

The five-member advisory panel makes recommendations to VanderKolk on planning, county services and other issues affecting their unincorporated community east of Thousand Oaks. The panel is now studying the feasibility of becoming a city. About 10,000 people live in Oak Park.

VanderKolk said she selected Gray because she is knowledgeable about local issues.

“She’s very energetic, and she is really interested in reaching out and getting people in the community more involved,” VanderKolk said.
