Countywide : Levy Foundation Donates $266,216
The Achille Levy Foundation will award $266,216 in grants to 37 local arts and education programs and nonprofit organizations, including $45,000 to United Way of Ventura County, foundation officials said.
The foundation, funded entirely by Bank of A. Levy, made the donation to United Way, matching Bank of A. Levy employee donations to the agency this year. The award makes the bank one of United Way’s largest corporate contributors in the county.
Other recipients include four local Boys & Girls Clubs, eight performing arts groups, several school districts and the Ventura County superintendent of schools office, two colleges, the city of Ventura, El Concilio del Condado de Ventura, and the Ventura County Community Foundation.
In addition to the recipients, 16 county high school seniors received $1,500 scholarships, and seven local private schools were each awarded $1,500 to use in their scholarship programs.
“We’re continuing the bank’s 110-year history of investing in community-oriented programs that enrich the quality of life of our residents but with special emphasis in arts, culture and the education and enrichment of Ventura County’s youth,” foundation chairman Arthur A. Milligan said.
