Mini-City on Fast Track
Ventura County Supervisor Maria VanderKolk recently wrote that college professors live in Ivory Towers.
I think that residence is better suited for our county supervisors who are proposing the elimination of public comments and technical review from the environmental review process. It would make the process speedier, though, and I always did suspect their decisions were purely political anyway.
The Ahmanson Ranch mini-city is a case in point. Before the process began, VanderKolk played a key role in negotiating the site and size of the proposed development she will vote on. Then the board changed the review process for this project to “fast track” it. Ahmanson is being fast-tracked to approval and our Ivory Tower supervisors are usurping the process by which an informed decision can be made.
