3 Indicted in Slaying of Brooklyn Principal
Three teen-agers were indicted Wednesday in the shooting death of a grade-school principal who was killed last week as he walked through a housing project in search of a pupil.
Patrick Daly, 48, was fatally shot when he was caught in the cross-fire of a drug dispute in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, authorities said.
Kings County Dist. Atty. Charles Hynes said a 13-count indictment charges Shamel Burrough, 17, Khary Bekka, 18, and Jermaine Russell, 18, with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. They face possible maximum prison terms of 25 years to life.
Russell and Bekka surrendered to ministers at a Brooklyn church this week and denied being involved in the shooting. They said they also were caught in the cross-fire.
