Francis S. Maas, attorney and community leader, has been named chairman of the board of the University of Judaism in Los Angeles. Current Chairman Jack M. Ostrow, who has led the university for 25 years, plans to retire.

Maas is a native of Los Angeles and the current assistant treasurer of the University of Judaism, chairman of the budget committee and member of the University of Judaism and Lee College Boards. He is also the vice president of the Jewish Federation Council of Los Angeles and chairman of its planning and allocations committee, as well as a member of the executive committee and board of directors.
