COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : No. 4 Indiana Easily Defeats Butler, Will Take on Colorado

No. 4-ranked Indiana used a swarming defense to rout Butler, 90-48, in the first round of the Hoosier Classic Sunday night at Indianapolis.

Indiana held Butler to 30% shooting, 21% in the first half, and forced 21 turnovers.

The Hoosiers (10-1) will play Colorado in tonight’s championship game. The Buffaloes (5-1) advanced with a 79-61 victory over St. Francis of New York.

Calbert Cheaney, Damon Bailey and Matt Nover led Indiana with 17 points apiece. Alan Henderson had a tournament-record 19 rebounds.

Brian Beauford led the Bulldogs (2-5) with 24 points and 10 rebounds.

No. 2 Kansas 93, Jackson State 85--The Jayhawks (8-0) won their opening round of the Rainbow Classic at Honolulu despite 48 points from Lindsey Hunter, who was 11 for 26 from three-point range and 17 for 43 overall for the Tigers (3-6).

It was the most points scored against Kansas, which gave up 46 points to Mike Wroblewski of Kansas State in 1962.

Adonis Jordan finished with 20 points, sinking a three-pointer with 13:55 to play to give Kansas the lead for good at 57-54. The Jayhawks will play the Fordham-Hawaii winner on Tuesday night.

No. 24 Tulane 64, Hofstra 55--Tulane shook off Hofstra at New Orleans to end a two-game losing streak. Carlin Hartman led Tulane (6-3) with 16 points before he fouled out late in the game. Demetrius Dudley led Hofstra (2-7) with 26 points, including six three-pointers.
