California / IN BRIEF : SUSANVILLE : 2 Killed in Crash of Medical Plane
Two people were killed when a Reno-based medical transport plane crashed on the way to pick up a patient, authorities said. The twin-engine Turbo Commander went down Thursday afternoon three miles west of the Sierra Army Depot in Herlong, on the California side of the Nevada border, the Lassen County Sheriff’s Department said. The pilot, Gary Miller, 51, and a nurse, Therese Yarbrough, 28, were the only people aboard. The plane was traveling to Susanville to pick up a cardiac patient for transport to Reno when the crash occurred. The cause was not known.
