West Hollywood Councilwoman Abbe Land has been named to leadership posts of two national groups representing local governments.
Land, first elected to the council in 1986, was picked for the board of directors of the National League of Cities in early December. She was also named president of Women in Municipal Government, a group for female elected officials.
Land will be among 40 league directors. The league, with members from 1,450 cities and towns, is the nation’s biggest and oldest group representing local governments.
Under Land’s leadership, Women in Municipal Government will focus on the diversity of American families and women in government, she said.
