From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A homeowner bailed out by rocker Alice Cooper after falling months behind on mortgage payments has apparently abandoned the house, officials said. The home of Patrick and Dee Ann Kelly, whose psychedelic paint job includes a likeness of Cooper and lyrics from his songs, is boarded up. Chief Animal Control Officer Emmett Gibson said he tracked down the Kellys at an Orange motel after impounding four dogs that were left at the house. The family was checking out and said they wanted only one of the dogs, Gibson said. Kelly made headlines late last year when, broke and unable to sell his $250,000 home, he painted it with psychedelic designs. Cooper, hearing about the paint jobs and Kelly’s plight, made a personal appearance at the home last month, raising enough money to pay more than $13,000 in back mortgage payments. The Kellys had until the end of January to make the current payments before Standard Mortgage Co. started foreclosure proceedings, Vice President Pam Beck said. “It appears the home has been abandoned,” Beck said.
