A 15-year-old Oxnard boy who was arrested in connection with an armed robbery last week also is suspected of clubbing a local school principal three days after the robbery, police said.

Oxnard Police Lt. Tom Cady said the youth and another 15-year-old boy from Oxnard were arrested Friday and are being held at Ventura County Juvenile Hall.

Both are suspected in the armed robbery of Port Hueneme resident Jeffrey Kimbrell, 24, on Jan. 5.

In addition, one of the boys is suspected of assault with a deadly weapon against Haydock Junior High School Principal Pete Nichols on Friday.

Kimbrell was in the parking lot of Centerpoint Mall in the 2700 block of South Saviers Road in Oxnard about 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 5 when he was approached by two juveniles.

One of the youths held Kimbrell while the other brandished a bat, police said.

After taking a knapsack filled with security guard equipment from the victim, the boys fled.

About 2:30 p.m. three days later, Nichols was shooing trespassers from the Haydock grounds when a boy struck him with a miniature baseball bat, causing a two-inch gash that required three stitches.

The youth accused in the assault on Nichols was identified by the principal from a photograph, police said.
