*** Portrait, “Portrait,” Capitol. It’s that Boyz II Men sound again, but this is no commercial rip-off by some marginally talented group. This R&B; vocal quartet--which wrote, produced and arranged this album--laces some of its lush, romantic ballads and high-energy numbers with nifty jazz undertones. A well-crafted, imaginatively produced collection, loaded with catchy cuts, performed by four exceptional singers.
