** Daniel Ash, “Foolish Thing Desire,” Beggars Banquet. Singer-guitarist Ash’s second solo flight stays pretty near the groundwork of his English trio, Love and Rockets--minimalist, mid-tempo, atmospheric guitar rock. While the best cuts sound something like a polished Velvet Underground, many of the rest have a shuffling, zombie-like quality--the victims of drum machines and repetitive melodies.
