The Factors in Man’s Beating in Laguna

I find it simply amazing that only now are people coming to realize the effect of violence viewed on TV and in the movies (“O.C. Youths Ride Tide of Brutal Crime,” Jan. 11) is having on our young people.

However, I feel there is another important factor: the working mother so prevalent in our society for the past 15 years.

With increasing dismay, I have watched women turning away from the ultimate joy in life. That joy consists in raising their children to be moral, law-abiding, productive citizens, and providing a good home environment for them and their husbands.

The old maxim, “the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world,” was never more relevant than it is now. The trouble is (that) a baby-sitter has been given this job of rocking plus the teaching of morals to your child.

Wake up, working mothers! Our wonderful country is going down the TV tube. Stay home and take care of your children.

You say you can’t make ends meet? Costs of living skyrocketed when working mothers entered the work force. The two-income family had a great deal to do with this.

So I suggest you lower your lifestyle until your kids are out of their formative years. Children have rights too. Don’t put earning a paycheck above their rights. They deserve a two-parent family and a full-time, non-working mother.
