Fantasy or reality? Your comprehensive article on the nuts and bolts of the elevated train for the Valley (“Elevated Line Appears Headed for Long Haul in Permit Process,” Times Valley Edition Jan. 3) was revealing of the foolishness of the scheme. We just went through five years of disruptions on widening the Ventura Freeway. Now we will have to endure another 10 or 15 years of construction. The commuter line could have been started by now if a vocal group had not put an obstacle in the way by insisting on a subway for their area.

The best plan is the simplest, fastest and cheapest--a line above ground. If Antonovich wants to ride a monorail, let him go to Disneyland.
