THOUSAND OAKS : Diners, Staff Robbed At Chinese Eatery
Four men robbed patrons and employees of the Lotus Garden Restaurant in Thousand Oaks, authorities said Saturday.
About $2,500 cash and jewelry was taken Friday evening, said Richard Hsu, manager of the restaurant. Four men armed with guns came in about 10:15 p.m., near closing time, he said.
Seven employees and two customers were in the restaurant, and all were bound with industrial-strength tape, Hsu said. “They searched everybody--they searched me three times,” he said.
In addition to cash and jewelry, the robbers also took everyone’s watches and wedding rings, Hsu said. On their way out, he said, they grabbed two six-packs of beer.
Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Keith Parks said investigators believe the robbers came from Los Angeles, not Ventura County. “There’s no place really safe anymore,” Hsu said.
