RIGHT PERKS: Heather Herbert, student body president at Rancho Santiago College, had to push her own causes as student member of the Board of Trustees. Last week she got fellow board members to give her an advisory vote, and formalize her right to make and second motions. . . . Herbert, who says it’s for the students’ benefit, has won smaller battles too. She says: “I noticed that the others all had parking passes and I didn’t. So I brought that up too. Now I’ve got my parking pass.”
