FOOTHILL RANCH : Car Owner Shoots at Fleeing Thieves

Share

A Foothill Ranch man pulled out a handgun and shot at two men after they held a gun to his head and drove off in his sports car, sheriff’s officials said Tuesday.

It was not clear whether Wilson Natapradja, 24, hit either of the fleeing men, said Sheriff’s Lt. Dick Olson.

Olson said the events began to unfold shortly after 10 p.m. Monday when the two men and a woman went to Natapradja’s home on Alamitos to look at the car he advertised for sale.

One of the men went for a test drive with Natapradja. When they returned, the woman was gone. One of the men then pulled out a semiautomatic handgun and held it to Natapradja’s head, Olson said.

Natapradja dropped to one knee and pulled a handgun from his waistband, Olson said. He took aim at the men and pulled the trigger, but his gun misfired, Olson said.

The men jumped into Natapradja’s car and drove off. Natapradja cleared his gun and fired again, hitting his car several times, sheriff’s deputies said.

The men abandoned the car about a block away.

Investigators did not know if anything had been stolen from the car, Olson said. Deputies found a handgun near the car.

The two men and the woman remained at large Tuesday, Olson said.
