SAN FERNANDO VALLEY : Councilman Braude to Seek 8th Term

Los Angeles City Councilman Marvin Braude announced plans Wednesday to seek an eighth consecutive term to the City Council.

Describing himself as an advocate of community-based policing, Braude plans to run on a platform calling for the hiring of more police officers and increasing public safety.

First elected to the council in 1965, Braude serves as the council’s president pro tem and chairman of the public safety committee, which oversees the operations of the police, fire, building and safety, animal regulation and social service departments.

Braude represents about 200,000 residents in the 11th District, which encompasses Van Nuys, Sherman Oaks, Encino, Tarzana, Woodland Hills, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Mar Vista, Westwood, Palms and West Los Angeles.
