Finding the Typical High School Teen
The visits to three local high schools to interview three students for the article “What Teens Say About High School” (Jan. 8) certainly didn’t pick a very representative cross-section.
My teen-agers thought the description of the young man from San Pedro High and his girlfriend as the ‘90s version of the all-American kid was wide of the mark.
My 15-year-old daughter said, “My god, she’s 16 and has a 17-month-old so she was having sex when she was 14!” Hardly typical.
Another student reported proudly that she doesn’t have unprotected sex with her 21-year-old boyfriend. There are a lot more representative teen-agers out there for an article on all-American ‘90s kids.
