Answering the Call: Speaking of charities, a record $24 million in pledges came in during last weekend’s 14th annual “Star-Athon ‘93” telethon which benefits the United Cerebral Palsy Assn. The total topped last year’s pledges by half a million dollars. John Ritter, Henry Winkler and Tammy Wynette hosted the telethon which aired on 75 stations across the country and was anchored in Los Angeles and New York. Los Angeles contributed $535,390.
