San Juan Capistrano : Free AIDS Testing Set for Thursdays

Share

Free AIDS testing will be available to South County residents on a regular basis, starting Thursday.

The County Health Clinic at 27512 Calle Arroyo will offer confidential screenings for the virus from 7:30 a.m. through 5 p.m. every Thursday.

Appointments are not needed.

Those people wishing to take the test will be given a brief counseling and education session before and after the test. Results will be available about one week after the test, county health officials said.

“Since testing became available, the (County) Health Care Agency has conducted more than 105,000 tests,” said Dr. L. Rex Ehling, county health officer. “We hope the convenience of the HIV clinic in South County encourages more people to get tested. HIV testing is a vital component of AIDS prevention.”

As of November, 1992, 2,284 cases of AIDS have been recorded in Orange County, Ehling said.

South County residents unable to attend the Thursday clinic can call the county AIDS information line at (714) 834-8700 to find out about other testing locations. For recorded information about the health clinic in San Juan Capistrano, call (714) 248-2216.
