VILLA PARK : Volunteers Sought to Organize Concert
- Share via
The city is seeking volunteers to organize a summer concert.
City Council members said the event won’t happen unless people volunteer to help.
“I would beg, plead, cajole, do whatever it takes to get people to volunteer,” Councilman Bob Patchin said.
The first concert filled a 10-acre grass area behind Serrano Elementary School in 1991.
Local jazz and pop bands played as Villa Park children and other groups displayed their dance techniques, city officials recalled.
The event broke even, City Manager Fred Maley said. “We raised about $9,000, but it cost about $9,000.”
He said the main attractions included an antique car show and an auction of old city street signs.
The date, time and activities for this year’s event have not been determined.
Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to call City Hall at (714) 998-1500.
