SIMI VALLEY : 2 to Stand Trial in 1986 Slaying

Share

Two men were ordered Thursday to stand trial in the 1986 slaying of a Los Angeles man whose remains were found in Black Canyon south of Simi Valley last year.

Anthony Adams, 28, of Littlerock, and Alan Abraham, 30, of Oceanside face murder charges in the death of Christopher Landry, who was 21 when he disappeared, investigators said.

The two suspects were arrested last month after Adams admitted the slaying in a taped phone conversation with a former girlfriend, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Peter D. Kossoris. After their arrest, they also confessed to the shooting during interviews with police, Kossoris said.

Tapes of those interviews were played at a preliminary hearing Thursday. The motive for the shooting was murky, but Kossoris said it occurred after the two men and Landry had a dispute over money that Adams had received to buy cocaine.

Municipal Judge Edward F. Brodie ruled that there was enough evidence to warrant a trial and scheduled arraignment Feb. 17 before Superior Court Judge Lawrence Storch.

Adams and Abraham remain in Ventura County Jail with bail set at $250,000.
