WOODLAND HILLS : Funds Approved for New Shuttle Service

Share

The Los Angeles City Council has earmarked an additional $500,000 for a new noontime shuttle bus service for workers and shoppers in Warner Center and the continuation of an existing commuter bus program to that regional center.

The council action Wednesday will partly fund a $1-million, three-year bus contract to be awarded soon by the city.

The winning contractor will run the shuttle, to operate within the 1,100-acre Warner Center area at noontime, and will continue the Warner Center-Simi Valley morning and afternoon commuter bus service. The supplemental allocation will help cover the extra cost of the city buying five propane-powered 21-seat buses from the contractor, said Phil Aker, a senior city transportation official.

Aker said the shuttle program should begin this spring. The money allocated Wednesday comes from a $5.5-million fund of traffic fees paid to the city by Warner Center developers.
