Woman Held in Roommate’s Beating

ANAHEIM — A woman was arrested Friday on suspicion of attempted murder after her 81-year-old roommate was beaten nearly to death, police said.
Officers were called to a house in the 1600 block of Richard Place at 11:05 a.m. after receiving a report that someone there had been assaulted, Anaheim Sgt. Kirt Robertson said.
Police found Vevart Jamushian unconscious with head injuries. She was rushed to UCI Medical Center in Orange where she was reported in stable condition in the hospital’s intensive care unit Friday night.
Her roommate, Dzovenar Arpiarian, 53, was arrested at the scene and was held at Orange County Jail on Friday night.
Police released few details. They said the two women share the house with at least one male roommate. They did not say how long the women have lived together but said that the two are not related and that Jamushian has no immediate family.
