PALMDALE : Gunshots Fired at Middle School

Share

A teen-ager apparently fired several shots at Juniper Middle School in Palmdale on Tuesday afternoon after accosting a student outside, sheriff’s deputies said. No one was injured and deputies found no evidence that the school had been hit.

The incident began when one youth accosted the student, displaying a pistol and asking if the student knew some other students, asking for them by gang nicknames, deputies said. When the student walked back into the school, witnesses said they heard several shots before the youth ran away, deputies said. The student did not recognize the other youth, described as about 15 or 16 years old, as a student at the school, deputies said. A search by deputies on foot aided by a sheriff’s helicopter failed to locate the youth.
