Golden West Gets Double-Overtime Victory, 125-123
Gerald Rhoden made two free throws with no time left on the clock to give Golden West a 125-123 double-overtime victory over Irvine Valley in an Orange Empire Conference game Wednesday at Golden West.
Irvine Valley’s Steve Ransom had a chance to win the game with one second left but made only one of two free throws, then fouled Rhoden while chasing the rebound. The score was tied at 100-100 at the end of regulation and 108-108 at the end of the first overtime.
Josh Lewis had 29 points, making 12 of 18 field goals, to lead Golden West (10-16, 3-6 in conference). Dave Dunham broke the Golden West school single-game record with 21 assists. Elbert Davis set the old record of 19 in 1989.
