SIMI VALLEY : Robbery Suspect Turns Himself In

Share

A Simi Valley teen-ager who participated in a robbery in which a cashier was beaten has turned himself in to police because of a guilty conscience, authorities said Thursday.

Peter Paul Garcia, 18, showed up at the Simi Valley police station Wednesday night and admitted his role in the robbery of a Simi Shell Food Mart on Stearns Street that morning, Officer Rick Hanna said.

“He stated he turned himself in because his conscience was bothering him,” Hanna said.

Garcia was booked into Ventura County Jail and his bail was set at $20,000.

He was apparently one of two men who entered the all-night market at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday and stole about $100, Sgt. John Wilcox said.

One of the suspects--not believed to be Garcia--struck the cashier in the head and shoulder with a metal bar, Wilcox said. Police are still seeking the second suspect, he said.
